The SCRA was founded in 1895 and its objective is to promote the interests of yacht cruising and racing in the Solent. The membership includes 70 clubs, 40 classes and over 500 individual members and is open to all who are interested.

Bramblemet
Bramblemet is a comprehensive weather information system, recording weather conditions in the Central Solent , both in real-time and historically.
It is particularly useful since its information is derived from instrumentation which is not shore-based, but is on the Bramble Pile ( 50° 47’. 41N, 1° 17’.15W ) roughly equidistant from Cowes, Calshot and Hill Head.

Round the Island Race
The annual Round the Island Race, organised by the Island Sailing Club, is a one-day yacht race around the Isle of Wight, an island situated off the south coast of England. The race regularly attracts over 1,400 boats and around 15,000 sailors, making it one of the largests yacht races in the world and the fourth largest participation sporting event in the UK after the London Marathon and the Great North and South Runs.
