Some of the benefits of membership of the Island Sailing Club

Sailing and Cruising

  • Free short term berthing on our private pontoon or Club buoy for yachts and RIBs for a maximum of 3 hours on a first come first served basis;  you must fly the Club burgee on your vessel.  There is also a Club mooring buoy to the north of our pontoon for RIBs.
  • Spacious changing facilities with some lockers, showers, ideal for freshening up after a day on the water
  • Our own slipway for hauling out boats up to a maximum 30ft length, 10ft beam and a displacement of 5 tons.
  • Seasonal Club launch service to the harbour and visitors’ moorings – April to October (Monday to Friday by prior arrangement, Saturday and Sunday on demand).
  • Spring Series - Club racing on Sundays in April and May
  • Tuesday Evening – Club racing from April to September.
  • Autumn Series – Club racing on Sundays in September and October.
  • Very active Cruising Section - cruise in company to popular locations, power and sail.
  • Our own fleet of Sonar Keelboats which members can hire for racing or casual sailing at members’ rates.
  • Get involved with race management, for Club racing, Cowes Week or our prestigious ‘Round the Island Race’.

Social

  • The Club Bar and Dining Room has some of the best views in Cowes. Step directly onto the balcony which overlooks the harbour entrance or watch the racing from the roof terrace. Our Chef’s team provide an excellent choice of bar meals, a lunch and evening menu and a popular Sunday Carvery. The Beken Room provides additional private space for members’ use.

  • Happy Hour every Friday plus a 'Club table' in the Dining Room.

How to apply for membership

Download the application form click here; currently there is no waiting list. The subscription year is January to December each year, but there are adjustments depending on which month you join - click here for the 2013 fees.

Complete the application form and send it with the appropriate entrance fee and subscription, you can elect to pay the subscription portion by monthly direct debit however this monthly direct debit attracts a £1 monthly admin charge. Fees are reviewed each year and they may increase for 2014. Please check the rates with the ISC Office (01983) 296621 if you are intending to join after 12 December 2013.

New to Cowes – no contacts in the Club?

Your membership application requires sponsoring and seconding by two current members of the Club. If you don’t know anybody in the Club, let us know when you can make a weekend visit and we will put you in touch with a General Committee Member. There is usually a General Committee member on duty each weekend between 12 noon and 2pm.

The application process

Applications for membership are considered by the General Committee at their monthly meetings. A fully completed application form accompanied by the appropriate fees should be received in the Club office by the dates shown below. This will allow time for your name to be displayed on the Club Notice Board for one week prior to the relevant General Committee Meeting; these meetings are customarily held on the last Thursday of each month.
