XANTZ

01794 323344 & 07980946127

Xantz is a Hunter Sonata moored on A18 in Cowes main harbour. We are looking for one, and possibly two new crew for the 2012 season. One of the crew recruited would be needed for the foredeck. Some previous experience is desirable, but guidance/training will be provided. Depending upon experience, opportunities to helm might arise. We race on Tuesday evenings, Round the Island Race and Cowes Week, but on other occasions as well depending upon crew availability. We race enthusiastically, but crucially for fun rather than to ‘win at all costs.’ Winning is a bonus. No one shouts, other than to prevent an accident! Crew morale is paramount. We run a dry ship afloat, but more than make up for that ashore.

Little Spirit

01983 293053

Little Spirit sails all year. We compete in the ISC Tuesday Evening Series, Spring and Autumn Series, the RSYC Frostbite and Winter Series, Cowes Week, Round the Island and ECSC Sail the Wight. Weekends when not racing we go for a lunch cruise and have three long weekend cruises to France planed for 2012. Off the water we enjoy an occasional social evening.

Little Spirit is a Beneteau First 375 moored in East Cowes. Currently her safety rating is ISAF level 2 and her crew all have a minimum of 4 years sailing on her. We have several members who have Day Skipper or above, First Aid Certificates, Offshore Racing Certificates.

You will be enthusiastic and a good mixer. We spend a lot of time sailing so commitment is important. Your sailing should be at least one season and preferably higher with some experience in a keel boat. You will be a quick learner and be looking for a long term crew to join. Enthusiasm and commitment will be the main attribute that you will bring to the Crew of Little Spirit.

Crew wanted to race a Contessa 26 in 2012.
The wish list of events includes;ISC Spring series, ISC Tuesday night series, ISC Inshore series, ISC Regatta, Cowes week and CO 26 Nationals, ISC Autumn series and East Cowes SC Thursday night series.
The boat can be sailed two or three up very competitively and the ability/willingness to work on or learn the bow (setting up spinnaker launch bag and pole) is an essential skill.
Being a relatively small boat the loads are manageable, so it provides a good grounding for someone wishing to learn or improve their skills.

I am looking for people that can commit to at least a series, even if they can’t commit to the whole season for example 5 races for Spring series on Sunday mornings, 18 races for Tuesday nights etc. If you are interested in learning more about the boat contact Paul Wells paul@sycamore-uk.com with details of your sailing experience and availability.

The boat is based in Cowes Yacht Haven and is pretty competitive, winning a number of trophies in 2011.

Ghost - J122

07951 775517

Ghost is looking for a committed crew who are prepared to spend time training to become better racers, with the objective of getting closer and closer to the winning position over 2012. We are prepared to offer the service of a professional trainer as a reward for your dedication. All we ask in return is that you play your part in creating a great team of people who are constantly growing in confidence and self respect.
Ghost, a J122 has all the credentials of the legendary race winning J Boats but can only achieve her full potential by being crewed by dedicated people. Good racers come from all walks of life, but to be a good racer you need practice, commitment and a hunger to learn more. We need a further three key team members, Main Trimmer, Tactician and a competent Navigator, but if you have talent in other areas let us know you're interested.

So if you are looking for a challenge and want to improve your skills either email kenlowes@lowes.co.uk or call 07951 775517.
